GO Resilient, the exclusive Canadian flooring distributor of Karndean Designflooring is supporting HGTV’s ‘Twyla Project’ by providing $7,500 of Da Vinci luxury vinyl flooring (LVT) for her basement renovations. Twyla Gendron recently faced a heart-breaking series of events in a short time frame; from losing her husband of 38 years to battling breast cancer, and now working to keep her home. The local community has rallied to raise funds and support Twyla; including many companies donating products.
As reported inThe Star, “…a wave of troubles hit over the past two years. First, her mother died. Then, three months later, Twyla was diagnosed with breast cancer. Soon after that she lost her job of 22 years. Then, two summers ago, Larry [husband] complained he wasn’t feeling well…Gendron took him to the hospital. Larry died eight days later, just before Gendron was due to start chemotherapy for her own cancer.”
HGTV’s Income Property took the lead on renovating Twyla’s basement into an income suite – with a goal of generating enough income so Twyla can manage her mortgage and other expenses.
"When HGTV’s production company RTR Media approached us to support Twyla, we immediately agreed. GO Resilient is committed to supporting our local community, and helping Twyla was a no-brainer,” says Tim Craik, General Manager at GO Resilient Canada.
ET Canada and Global Toronto spoke to Twyla and Income Property host Scott McGrillivray about the project, and recorded her overwhelming reaction to the newly renovated basement. “I am feeling utterly overwhelmed. I think one of the words I used was ‘gob smacked’.”
